Countless studies conducted by the Government and Universities have clearly shown evidence that young girls, teenagers, and adult women learn computer technology more thoroughly and advance to higher skill levels when they are allowed to learn in their same gender environment. They consistently achieve more when not competing against males in the classroom and feel better about their learning experience.
The Center’s courses are designed by women, taught by women, and are for the exclusive use of women. Too many women are getting left behind by the “Technology Divide” and don’t know where to turn to get the help they need. Many women have already had negative experiences taking classes in a traditional gender mixed environment and are now “gun shy” of technology. They falsely believe it’s not for them – “I can’t do it” – “My brain doesn’t think like that” – “I get so confused trying to follow a manual” – “Me, learn how to use a computer? Are you kidding, it’s hopeless!” The Center can turn all those ‘negative can’t do thoughts’ around. The Women’s Computer Learning Center gives its members the confidence to tackle technology and set and accomplish goals that were previously thought to be outside their reach. Whether you just want to learn computer skills for fun, like making a digital family scrapbook, or to learn professional level software packages that can enhance and project your career forward, we are there for you. The Center also has in-house support groups that help
out with all of your technology needs. Practice sessions are also available
so you don’t get rusty. So, Don’t be shy - come on by, meet the supportive
and friendly staff, share a beverage with a new computer buddy, and
have some fun learning new skills that can change your life for the
better! |
